Excellent comparison of GM and major brands. America's greatness is derived from individuals ability to respond to opportunities in the market. Technology and the net are the great equalizers.
Aloha,
Keahi

Marc, I really enjoy your posts.
American cars may have had panache but nothing compared to Lindsey Nelsons Jackets.

Awesome post, I'm too young (born in the 80s) to have seen a time when American cars had panache and you painted a vivid picture of it. I've always known American cars as junk reserved for construction workers, old people, and uninformed car buyers.

I think a lot of our (America's) problem is how obsessed with the past we are. Too many major companies reward experience over talent and vision. The auto industry need visionaries, the newspaper industry needs visionaries, the real estate industry needs visionaries. Yet, what we see is cranky old men holding on to dated ideals.
