@Michael - I will administer this correction.

@Sherry - I found there was so much to take from there and give to American associations who could learn so much from CREA.

I loved Quebec City and need to go back when it warms up. I see a downtown loft with my name on it in the future.

Marc, You are making me homesick for Canada... things are different and unique there. I have always believed taking the best from both countries would make for the ideal business model for our industry. Maybe some day... glad you had a chance to experience Quebec - I was born in Montreal.

@Michael,
Thanks for clearing that up!

@Marc
There ARE in fact several MLSs in Canada. MLS.ca, the Canadian Real Estate Association's public web site, their analog to Realtor.com, may be a model of how a national association real estate web site should work, but it is NOT a national MLS. Interesting, though, is the fact that "MLS" is a trademarked term in Canada. CREA owns the trademark rights to it. As a result, if you want to call yourself an "MLS" in Canada, you need CREA's permission. Here is the U.S. "MLS" is regarded as a generic term and is not subject to trademark rights...

Marc, there are many MLSs in Canada. They do have a central consumer-facing site (realtor.ca) but there are many different MLSs (and Boards) in Canada (TREB in Toronto, GMREB in Montreal, etc.) that feed that site.

Davison - you are a riot! Great photo. I see Canada not as our attic, but (to change the analogy mid-sentence) as the smart kid in class that asks great questions - real thinkers .... more European than American.
