@Diana,

Appreciate the view and feedback. Couple of things, the "actors" are anything but. They are local folks here where I live who voiced their response in their own voice. If anything I angst came from what we decided to edit which was to very deliberately focus on the things that conjured up the emotions that came across.

The goal of the video was not to make you care about them. It was simply to point out the many different things the real estate practitioner can do grow beyond the tried and true way of doing things.

Regarding the dog agent, let me pose this hypothetical.

Agent A poses with a dog
Agent B donates a % of their earnings to PETA and volunteers weekly at their local dog shelter.

If you were someone who felt animal kinship was important enough of a criteria to base hiring someone to represent the most important transaction in your life which agent do you hire?

Posing with a dog offers no sense of what that agent is really about.In fact, just because someone poses with a dog doesn't even mean they like dogs. Real estate is a sales business people understand agents will do almost anything to get you to like them. So they'll post with dogs, fruit, plants... anything that tugs are the emotion. Since too many agents do it without taking that marketing ploy to the next, deeper level, it dilutes their efforts down to nothing more than a comedy.

I could pose with a boomerang. Will that automatically attract me to Australians? Probably not. Granted it would be unique but let's say it did attract Australians to me. How real would it be is 50,000 other agents did the same thing? I think it was become rather transparent to the public.

Agent B on the other hand, may not ever pose with a dog. But his life, her commitment, runs deep and true. This is what people today want. Granted, they like nice packaging but what matters most is what's inside.

This is the hue and cry from people that this little 60 second video tried to convey.

I enjoyed the content of the video, and its value as a wake-up call to some Realtors. My experiences with Realtors as a client, and as a vendor, have revealed few with that "you're just a lead" mindset (or perhaps I've been really good at avoiding them!)

I do agree with Brett's comment, though. Your actors come off snarky. It would have been more effective, imho, if they showed more humanity so people would care whether or not they were treated like a lead or contact. The idea is fabulous, the message is great, but make us care about them.

You know what's funny? As a client, I DO care about things like if my Realtor has a dog, what kind of person they are, etc. Unlike any other professional, the time you spend with Realtors is often in your home, hours in a car, and either buying or selling your most personal possession. It does matter to me who they are. This is an industry that was built on "personal marketing", and with the advent of social media, it's going to get a lot more personal. The key is balancing it out with relevant info, and a client-centered approach to biz.

And yes, no more Realtor pics posed by a phone, or with a pencil in their hand, (but dogs? keep 'em coming!)

This is a great reminder about what real estate is about. I always say that service is the key to my business and I have built my team around that. thanks for the video.
